The outdoor pavilion was a unique project located on Porters Creek, just outside of downtown St. Michaels.  It is a 22' wide octagonal open pavilion, with steel framing, copper roofing, mahogany ceilings, stone floors and a built-in grilling area.  The challenge was to create an open space to enjoy the beautiful views, but to keep it in scale and balance with the existing residence. By using the octagon shape, the pavilion not only compliments some of the similar shapes of the residence, but suggests summer evenings at the town bandstand.  The windows in the cupola open and close with an electric switch to provide airflow on calmer days, and the steel frame and concrete foundation keep it sturdy during strong storms that come off the Eastern Bay.  The Azek trim, fiberglass columns, and copper roof provide long-term durability and low maintenance.
