When you contact East Bay Construction Services LLC, you'll be talking directly with the owner of the business. Let me introduce myself.
I'm Lars Erickson. I was born and raised in Minnesota. After graduating from College, I moved to Hawaii and spent 14 years there, and then in 2002 settled on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, here in Talbot County.
East Bay Construction Services LLC is the culmination of my many years in the construction industry. Over 25 years ago I began my career as an accountant and job cost specialist for a large contracting firm. There, I began designing and building my own homes to sell, spending nights and weekends designing and physically building the homes too.
From there, I became the General Manager of the largest roof truss company in the area. I spent much of my time designing roof systems for local Architects and Structural Engineers I was often able to create a stronger, more asthetically pleasing roof or ceiling structure than had been envisioned, all while saving the client money on the roof system. I continued designing and building homes in my spare time, continually improving on my designs and details.
Finally, I became a Licensed General Contractor and started my own company, Erickson Development, Ltd. While I continued to design and build my own homes for resale, I also accepted design-build clients who had either seen my work, or had been referred by former clients.
When settling on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, I decided that my true interest lay more in the design aspect of construction and development. Since setting up East Bay Construction Services LLC in 2004, I have choosen to keep my focus on design and the assisting of clients, contractors and developers, and leave the actual building to others. My varied and unique construction experience and background bring a good balance and sensibility to my designs and consulting.
During my years of building homes and designing roof systems, one thing stood out to me. Too many homes are standardized and have no real interest. I believe the key to good design and smart construction practice lies in a delicate balance of proportion, visual interest, and structural integrity, all within the confines of a project budget. While an elaborate project with an unlimited budget is certainly enjoyable to be a part of, my experience shines brightest when presented with the challenge of balancing the design within an appropriate budget. Homes or additions built with modest budgets can still be beautiful, functional, and strong. Home design is done best when the space functions as needed, has substantial visual interest, and creates a comfortable environment for the homeowner. These criteria are fulfilled through smart design, the selection of interesting materials, and an extra effort by the designer to understand the homeowner's living style and needs. Most rewarding to me is the satisfaction of the client when they are pleased with the design, and the finished project.
I am also assisted by my wife, Amanda, who provides me with valuable input on overall design and details, and helps bring that woman's touch to each project. Her contributions to our own and to clients' projects over the last 20+ years have helped us to achieve the excellent reputation for quality design that we enjoy today.
And we can't forget to mention Ipo, the official greeter, mascot, and generally lazy partner who mostly just sleeps and begs for treats.
